Peran Nilai-Nilai Muhammadiyah dalam Membangun Semangat Kerja Relawan LazizMu Jember

Abstract

Values serve as a crucial foundation in shaping individual character and guiding organizational direction, particularly in religious-social institutions such as Lazismu. This study is motivated by the need to understand how Muhammadiyah values such as sincerity, trustworthiness, and responsibility—are internalized into the work spirit of Lazismu volunteers in Jember. The research aims to describe the internalization process and its impact on volunteer motivation. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, using in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis as data collection techniques. Informants were selected through purposive sampling involving active volunteers and Lazismu managers. The findings reveal that Muhammadiyah values act as a primary motivational source for volunteers in carrying out their social duties, although there are variations in understanding and commitment between new and experienced volunteers. Religious moments like Ramadan intensify the internalization process, but the challenge lies in sustaining motivation outside these periods. Moreover, value internalization occurs through consistent mentoring, exemplary leadership, and supportive organizational environments. In conclusion, Muhammadiyah values significantly contribute to enhancing volunteer work spirit, yet they require a sustainable and adaptive mentoring strategy. This study contributes to the development of value-based volunteer management models that can be applied in similar nonprofit organizations to strengthen the sustainability of religious-social movements.
