Abstract

Groups and group behavior have become a major concern in various studies in the fields of psychology, sociology and management. An understanding of group theory and group behavior is very important to explore interactions between individuals in a group. This research aims to analyze the theory of group formation, individual behavior in a group context, as well as factors that influence group dynamics. Apart from that, this research also wants to explore the stages of group development and their impact in various situations, both in organizational and societal contexts. To achieve this goal, research methods include literature studies to collect information related to relevant theories about groups and their behavior. In addition, observation and qualitative analysis techniques are applied to understand group behavior in a more real context. The results of this study show that there are various theories regarding group formation, such as proximity theory and cohesiveness theory. This research also identifies five stages of group development, namely forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning, which play an important role in influencing group interactions and performance. The implications of these findings can be applied in various contexts, including human resource management and social dynamics in public.
